So for those of you who don't know, Seattle does an Art Walk the first Thursday of every month. What this means is that all of the art galleries around the area open up their doors to the public to show the new art that has been hung and on display for the new month. Its a great opportunity to see some of the fine are that is popping up around Seattle, and also a fun thing to do on a Thursday night. A little group of us venture out and check out what this month's galleries had to offer.

As we headed out there was a storm rolling in and we got a chance to see some of the greatness that Seattle's weather had to offer. We then strolled to the SODO area South of Belltown to a 5 story building to work our way from the top to the bottom. Sorry I can't show you any of the art that was in the building (artists tend to not be very happy with you when you start taking pictures of their work without purchasing it). It was interesting though, to say the least. There was a little of everything from Paintings, to fabricated/sculpture art, to photography.

I must say though, that there was a little bit of disturbing photography there as well that I would definitely say "WARNING! Enter at your own risk!" If you have any idea who the photographer Mapplethorpe is then you might know what I'm talking about, because there was some images that were in the gallery that were influenced by him.

All in all it was fun, and below are a few pictures that I took along the way. I wouldn't be surprised if the building that we were in were to be condemned or collapse soon. There was a large crack that I noticed that ran from the top floor down that evidently showed up after the last major earthquake hit Seattle. Scary! Anyway, if you are ever in Seattle over a first Thursday, ask some locals and they will point you in the right direction. If you are already here and haven't gone, grab a group of buddies and head on out. You cant beat free fun.
